I am investigating options to output multi channel audio via mpeg-ts / ffmpeg. I have tested udp for now with OBS and ffmpeg outputand ingesting that into wowza. Is the same possible with vmmix ?

Yes I saw that. However the capture devices look multi track audio information. With OBS, it's direct ffmpeg commands also so easier for end users. No console required.

I might have to wait until SRT support is available for testing
