What is the recommended way to setup recording to a disk using vmix 12.0.0.114 x64 windows? I find it a bit frustrating that the recording setting seems to require configuration for each vmix session. Does the recording feature work this way by design? And if it is that way by design can it be saved to a preset? Thanks.

It can be a pain when getting that popup but it does help prevent from over writing a previous recording.

Thanks for your response. The problem with that rationale is that it automatically does create a unique timestamp for the filename. Also, if the intent was to safeguard a previously written recording it should not popup as an error, but rather as a warning or info message. This is what makes me think that it is a more of a bug in the program than anything else, so this is why I posted the question. It seems like the best approach would be to save it with the preset configuration, if that is at all possible, given that the timestamp functionality on the recording filename prevents the justification you point out.

I Totaly Agree with You Halbertech

Even this is not an issue or a bug in se, It will be better that when you save a preset and close Vmix to call it after with the same preset, It doesn't ask you to setup the recording again.
If Martin can have a look for a possible new feature it will be good

By default, recordings need to be setup before use. Consider this a safety net
in case the settings were changed incorrectly on a previous show.

As an alternative there is an option in Settings -> Recording called "Automatically Setup Recording With Previous Settings"
This will setup the recording automatically when clicking Start for the first time after opening vMix.

Thank's Martin.
I Never See this Option Before, i will use it then.
But having also the Setting already set with the preset without validate it again could be great.

Hi Martin,

Thank you for your response...it resolves my issue. The setting was not obvious to me. I really love what you have done with vmix.
