I have been using logitech C930e as the lone webcam and had no issues. Now I've added a C920 and vMix never saves the settings for the second webcam, and sometimes garbles the settings for the first one.

How can I remedy that?

It’s a Logitech issue, not vMix. If I recall correctly, the optional Logitech G-Hub software can save webcam settings between reboots.
Also, make sure that your c920 is using the windows UVC driver instead of the older Logitech driver. You can also try using the Logitech camera controller software.

I have a long history of using multiple Logitech webcams and have no such issue. You should install Logitech Camera Control. From Q3-2018 it allows you to control the settings of multiple cameras.
