Since Skype no longer lets you merge 2 or more calls, I'm using Bria Softphone. Should work the same as skype.
I'm getting an echo on my side with my setup. Callers hears everything OK. Here is my setup.
VMix General Settings: Settings-Audio Input-Both Master and Headphones are set to my computer system sounds. Bus A set to V1 (Virtual cable 1)
Using 2 Virtual cables with 3 repeaters on. Repeater 1 is System Mic to V1, repeater 2 is V2 to V1, repeater 3 is V2 to system speaker.
Softphone setup: Speaker V2, Mic V1
Added VMix audio input for V1 with auto mixing off.
Get an echo coming back from caller. They hear me fine.
Any help?

Sounds confusing to me, but I have a tiny brain.
Try drawing it out on a piece of paper with lines and arrows. That always helps me to understand the audio work flow and frequently problems will stand out.
