I am wondering if its possible to use a NDI camera with out a network present. I have a situation where we are looking for a single camera and have to take as little equipment with me as possible.

I am wondering if i can take the NDI camera and then simply plug it in to my laptop and get the video in to the laptop. Has any one tried?? or know if it might work.. Thanks

If you use a network cross over cable you can do it without any switch. Juste be sure that the IP configuration of that two devices is fine to reach each other.

Yes. Absolutely.

Preset a fixed IP in each device. Use a crossover cable or a switch. The switch has the advantage of allowing you to go twice as far, or connect additional devices.
