hi, i need to send the output of external Vmix in skype. I do not understand why Skype does not see the virtual camera of Vmix if I set a resolution higher than 320x240. Thank me

This is a Skype bug that affects a lot of different cameras and devices. To fix this upgrade to the very latest version of Skype from their web site.

Hello Everyone, Reference vMix 12 I've been doing some vMix/Skype testing over the last couple days and I have been able to both, use vMix as the camera for Skype and have used vMix to capture a Skype video call. Can not say enough about how much I like vMix. I thank everyone who has been a part of making vMix available. Here's are the links to the YouTube videos if you wish to view them. The key to making Skype work with vMix is in the settings tab. External Output settings have to be spot on or it wont work. I use a Logitech 910 Webcam so my settings are: Frame Rate 59.94i and 1280x720 resolution. Of course you have to switch the Skype input to vMix video and remember to click the "Start" button on the external output control. (Located in the bottom center of vMix) BTW no other resolution worked for me with Skype...only 1280x720. If all is working fine you should see color bars in the Skype video preview and when you click start you should see the vMix feed in Skype. I still haven't been able to get Skype to accept my vMix Audio though. For now Skype controls my audio.
Thanks George! I was the one bugging George to test all this stuff. Good Check!

Very strange. I did a "perfect" test with Vmix and Skype, and now, I can't do anything at all !!
Here is my config : Notebook PC with Decklinck USB3 win7 64bits Vmix 11.0.0.66 skype 6.14.0.104
- I reset my settings tab at each test to be sure not to move something - Add input for the video (sometime there is no sound embeded and some time there is, (and i can't find what is wrong with the sound) - settings-->display --> output size 1280x720 - start external at the bottom center - No more vmix in skype !! only my webcam.
There must be a bug somewhere between vmix, skype and blackmagic

I just update my black magic video desktop to 9.9.7 (last one) and vmix to v12, and de-installed/reinstalled Skype. Nothing to do, vmix desappeared from the video input menu in Skype.
Please help to find it back !

SKYGIF, just a quick thought in case you haven't already tried this. Updated for clarification Option 1: If you are using only one computer and utilizing it for both Skype with vMix as the camera for Skype use a headset for the outgoing and inbound audio for the Skype. The audio in vMix would be null [none]. Option 2: If you are using two computers [one for Skype and one for vMix] and using the vMix desktop capture app on the Skype computer as an input for the vMix computer use 2 different audio sources for yourself. Audio source #1 for the Skype caller; use the audio from the webcam is the easiest as the outgoing audio Skype. The #2 audio source for yourself is imported into the vMix computer via a mixer as a separate input. The caller's incoming audio would also be feed into vMix from the same mixer. Cheers SKYGIF wrote:The key to making Skype work with vMix is in the settings tab. External Output settings have to be spot on or it wont work. Try this: Close Skype, also by the processes of windows; Start Vmix. Vmix sect with output resolution to 1280X720. Make from the External Out of Vmix. Open Skype and set the camera to Vmix. Work should. Sorry for my English, it comes from Google Translate.

Hi there, I didn't wanted to set up a new topic cause i have Skype issue but a little bit different. We're mixing in the live stream also a lot ot Skype-to-studio conversations. And I am doing it with second notebook with desktop capture app running on it. I'am captureing audio&video so it would be really nice if i have some control over the audio from this input, unfortunatelly i don't have it and the audio stream when in skype is terrible and so quiet. YES i do have the AUDIO settings button located in the coressponding channel in vMix audio mixer interface, but for some reason it's not working at all. I click on it and nothing happens ... Please share any experience with the same problem if happened with you ! Jordan www.movebg.com

I had the same problem, downgrade to skype 6.10 and it will work no issues, also a lot of capture cards will not work with newer skype but works with 6.10
