Laptop presentation to vMix

I am new to video production, so I am a bit hesitant setting up a system.
Worked many times as camera op, did a bit of switching, vMix, Blackmagic, bring titles up, run commercials, direct etc.
My current project is a presentation with 2 camera setup and a computer presentation so, 3 video inputs.
The plan is to use 2 Magewell HDMI to USB adapters and actually a third one for the presentation laptop, all to the vMix computer (laptop).
The target is 720p / 30fps.
Is there a better way to bring the presentation laptop into the vMix station ? ( I would like to avoid buying a 3rd Magewell adapter ).

That is awesome. I thought vMix Desktop Capture was only for the local desktop (running vMix).
I suppose I'll setup a LAN and I should be able to see the presentation laptop at the vMix station.
Works through my router, will test with simple switch.
Is that adapter on par with the Magewell performance and specs?
On paper they seem to be the same thing, there must be some details they left out or something.
The price difference is huge.

the adapter is the same than Magewell,
I have 10 Magewell and 20 of the Amazone sticks and the performers is the same.
I hate only 1 time a problem with the Cameras that the don't connect on 1 System.
i delete all drivers in the system and after the new boot it works.

Henrik, that's a USB to HDMI adapter, not HDMI to USB.
That adapter would be useful when:
- you want an extra display
- laptop doesn't have an available or at all, HDMI out port.
It could help still in combination with an capture adapter.
I need to catch an HDMI out on another machine.
vMix Desktop does the trick nicely.
An external HDMI capture adapter is another solution.

@TippyToe: It is a capture device. I just bought one and tested it with Vmix!

There's a new twist in this. Someone has written a Windows app (PPT_NDI) that turns PowerPoint into an NDI stream. Superficially, this seems no different from using vMix Desktop Capture or NDI Scan Convertor. https://github.com/ykhwo...-Be0PqEnDRYdF-9zAVEiGtNEHowever, this little applet interacts with PowerPoint live. It's able to remove the background layer, passing the foreground with alpha channel into the NDI realm! That means that the PowerPoint foreground is readily keyable in vMix. Makes it very simple to display PPT graphics over a nice background video clip. It works well, except that it does not convey any transitions or animations.

We use the NDI toolkit on our presentation computer to capture its displays and then load that into vmix as an NDI input. This does introduce a bit of performance requirement, but shouldn't impact either computer too heavily.

Another alternative for hdmi-usb is Elgato's Cam link. The 1080@60 is under $100usd and the new 4k one is a bit over $100

The PPTNDI app mentioned above has been extended. It now offers a UI that lets you present right from it, without using PPT itself.

I use the desktop capture from vMix site, load and run it on the PC/laptop that is running the powerpoint, and do a screen capture via a network and I never had any issues... and I capture whatever is displayed....do it with every shoot where that is required....I even did a shoot where the presenter was in a different room to me, and all I had to rely on was what my cameras was seeing, and things ran smooth as silk...

Thank you for the suggestions, I'll give that PPT NDI a try.
I used Desktop NDI on my first project but had a bit of an issue with the PPT presentation.
Presentation Laptop > Extend Display > 1080p TV
PPT was fullscreen on second "monitor" - the TV
While I could see the previews ( displays and windows ) on my vMix station, when I added the full screen PPT ( showing correctly on TV ) it came black in my vMix INPUT
Again, as a thumb preview it all looked fine, when adding the full screen PPT as the chosen input, it came as a black screen.
On the main screen (laptop) I could see a preview window of PPT with controls and next slide showing.
Once I duplicated the screens laptop / TV, it all worked, but the presenter dind't have his "driving" controls for PPT.
All good otherwise.

Thanks. This can happen when PPT is using hardware accelerated output to stream to the video card. Desktop sharing apps, like vMix Desktop Capture may not be able to intercept the video, so you see black. it's most common when you try to capture a windows vs full-screen. Using PPT-NDI certainly overcomes this. It creates an NDI stream that you can access locally, or collect over the network. I would like to see some control of resolution. At present it looks like it defaults to 720p in all cases.
