Hi All,

I'm mixing live and capturing HD video to disk in amazing quality with 0 dropped frames and I am a very happy bunny.

VMix is amazing - thank you Martin.

There is just one wee fly in the ointment, however, but I'm sure you wise folk can set me straight.

I'm capturing from Intensity Pro Cards at 1920x1080i PAL 25fps set to "Widescreen" or "Source", it makes no difference.

All monitors in vMix and recorded HD output using Decklink MJPEG Compressor or Lagarith Lossless Codec (thanks Melody - a great find) is stretched vertically by just over 10%.

"Normal" input setting stretches it even more and "Ultra Widesreen" stretches the image too far lengthways.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi Brian,

Could you post a screenshot that demonstrates the stretching issue.
If both input and output are widescreen (i,e 1920x1080), usually setting the aspect ratio of all the inputs to Widescreen and ensuring the aspect ratio in settings is Widescreen should do it unless something strange is going on.

Hi Martin and All,

Nothing missing, but on my Dell 2407WFP monitor set to 1920x1080 the images appear elongated in the vertical axis by a factor of 1.1.

The tweeters on my monitor speakers should appear circular and they don't.

How do they appear to other people?

Hi Brian,

The 2407WFP appears to have a native resolution of 1920x1200. (16/10)
This means you will need to set the resolution in windows to 1920x1200. (leave vMix at 1920x1080)

Thank you for that, it seems obvious I suppose, but I was confused because I'd never noticed the problem previously.

It became apparent when I was playing video footage through the component input so I changed the resolution in Windows. That made the YUV input ok but set vMix out of kilter.

The solution to correcting the YUV input when Windows is set to 1920x1200 is to select "1:1" or "Aspect" rather than "Fill" on the monitor settings, just in case someone else has one of these ageing but still very capable monitors.

Hi Brian,

After thinking about this a bit more, there is an aspect ratio issue with vMix when used with monitors that are not 4:3 or 16:9
(In this case 16:10)

vMix makes the assumption in the settings that the monitor is either Normal (4:3) or Widescreen (16:9) so the output will look distorted in either mode
under (16:10) but should look ok in the final recording.

If the monitor options have the option of setting the aspect ratio as you describe than that is one way of fixing this issue.

If there are a lot of users using 16:10 monitors I will investigate adding that as an output option within vMix.

EDIT: For nVidia graphics cards, there is an option in the control panel under Adjust Desktop Size and Position to "use NVIDIA scaling with fixed-aspect ratio"
This allows setting the resolution to 1920x1080 under 1920x1200 monitors while also preserving the aspect ratio by adding small black bars to the top and bottom of the screen.
