I have an ASUS ROG ZEPHYRUS M GM501GM-EI007T running the latest version of VMix 4K. I did a job this week and I had one source via a AJA SDI Capture and I wanted to record this to the Laptop and stream to Facebook Live. I set up a manual RTMP stream to Facebook as the account I wanted to stream to wasn't listed on the Facebook button. The problem was when I pressed the record button on the VMix console VMix froze and the stream stuttered badly. I had to stop the recording to get the stream to work. I was only recording the program output.

Does anyone have any advice?

Sounds like the system became overloaded due to the recording settings.
What recording settings were you using?

It may also be that the NVIDIA graphics was not selected, leading to reduced performance on Intel graphics:

You can also improve performance further by turning on G-Sync in the Asus software that comes with the laptop.

Hi Martin,

I have selected the Nvidia card in the performance tab. The recording was h.264 8mb and the use hardware encoder was ticked (I didn't tick it this was the default setting when I went into the menu). The stream was to Facebook 3.5 mbs 720 and it was a 720P session.

Hi,

Try recording again and if the problem persist go to Settings -> About and click Send Support Report
then drop us an email to info@vmix.com.au to investigate further.

Thanks,

Martin

I have just sent an error report. This session was generated back in the office. VMix didn't freeze when I press record but I did notice the NDI inputs and the stream output appeared to be a low framerate as the video output was a lot jerkier then the incoming videos from VLC which were used as sources.

Looks like some of the issues may be caused by "Asus Sonic Suite" software on the laptop.
Try uninstalling this, and see if the results are improved.

I have sent another debug report yesterday after removing Sonic Suite. The fps rate to Facebook is still only 40 instead of 50.

The second report still shows Sonic Suite is running unfortunately.

I have just tested a stream again and sent the report. Can you confirm that Sonic Centre is still running as Task Manager doesn't mention it and also it was uninstalled yesterday before I sent the second report.

Many thanks
Frank

Yes, it appears to be no longer running and the stream tests FPS seem to be 50 now, so hopefully the problem is resolved.
