vMix Social is a really useful and easy way to integrate messages from live viewers (e.g. comments and questions). Unfortunately it is currently limited to a few social media services (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and IRC). Opening it up for other sources in a generic fashion would in my view be very valauable. Maybe this could be done by adding vMix's Data Source functionality as an additional source to vMix Social. This would allow us to add custom made feedback channels, while maintaining vMix Social's functionality, including mixing in messages from the already available sources.

Furthermore, there are situations where a message needs to be edited before it is sent to vMix. This could potentially be solved by adding an editor, sort of a simplified version of the editor for Title Inputs (se illustration below).

Let me motivate the above requests, as well as address some obvious alternative solutions.

A growing number of our customers are interested in using sort of what vMix social currently offers. Some of these customers are government organizations, which are very concerned about privacy and GDPR. Social media typically require a registration (e.g. a Google or Facebook account), which is limiting. Not all viewers have, or want to have, a social media account. In terms of privacy, registration is also problematic. In particlular when it comes to Facebook, which require a personal account tied to an identifiable individual.

Whereas in most situations the message can be sent to vMix as is, sometimes editing is necessary. One case is when the message contains personal information which for various reasons (e.g. GDPR) must be stripped off. Another case is when the moderator wants to shorten the message. It might be too long for the allocated space in the Title, or it might be written in an overly complicated fashion.

How about alternative solutions? First of all, one could of course write a customized app that works with Data Sources. But then you don't get vMix Social's additional functionalities. Setting up an IRC server is not that easy, and requires extra administration efforts as well as a server solution. The moderator/s could add comments in Youtube/Facebook, but that again requires an account with those services, as well as those messages might clutter the "real" conversations going on there.

So what do you think, is this a viable request?

Just beginning to feel the power of VMix Social. It’s brilliant.
Totally agree with the above, Twitch & Discord integration would be at the top of my list.
