hi martin,

i record long sessions of presentations and then clip the recorded file afterwards into seperate presentations.

it would be nice to have a feature that would save and start a new recording without interruption or better: to be able to mark the recording at a specific time for easy playback. i then would have to go to the specific location of the recording with one click and find the best moment for clipping.

I record in mpeg and use a simple programme to cut and save a presentation ( video4you ) without having to render a clip again. Finding the best location for clipping takes most of the time. The operator making the recording can easily mark the preferred clipping location since he is making the recording and usually will zoom out at the end of a presentation.

i don't know if it is easy to mark certain sections in a videofile during recording?

greetings,
stefan

The following will be in the final release of vMix 12:

WriteDurationToRecordingLog shortcut can be used to write the current recording position to the log file that is created with each recording.
This can also be activated by clicking the duration text at the bottom of the vMix window once.

Once these durations are in the log file, it will be up to you to copy and use those durations in the program of your choice (such as Excel)

Regards,

Martin

Martin, thanks - sounds like something very useful.

Pls consider a future enhancement where one also could add a label to the duration point. E.g. by entering a text (like "p1") in a pop-up field. If implemented, I think this feature should be optional (perhaps in settings).

I personaly would prefere something like Video delay, but only that it could save seleced long file with sound.

It would be useful for situations when you need immediately share specific moment. Let's say in sports match smth important happened (goal, dunk etc.) and you need/want upload it to facebook, youtube, send to local television etc. Now you can do something similar with delay files made for replays, but they dont have sound... if there would be option to "enable sound capture vith Video delay" it would be solution as well.

Now if you want cut specific moment from whole match video you have to use third part editing software, do it after the match with lots of wasted time.

Best wishes Martin!

Does this feature also work with multicorder?

I tried it, but it only creates a mark in the log file in the "normal" recording
