Hi I've being recording in the Vc3 ffmpeg mxf format 1080i50 but can't get Avid to import the file .
Is this something to do with the rec601 to 709 button in the input settings? ( I have it unticked at the moment ).

I'm wondering is it a colourspace issue or something different and avid wants a slightly different format?
I am aware that others are having more success by recording out to an atomos or a video assist device .
Guillaume mentioned ages ago that he thought it might be an FFmpeg codec error.I hope I'm understanding him.

Regards
Cormac

I'm not really familiar with Avid but no I don't think it's related to the colourspace issue I was talking about.

However DNxHD is tricky about bitrates and resolutions. Did you conform to the specs ?

Avid's DNX MXF is MXF OP Atom vs the more generic op1a.
OP = operational pattern. Atom has individual .mxf flles
for video and each audio track. You probably have op1a
.mxf

See if you can use VLC etc to convert them to something that Avid imports or AMA links to. Resolve should transcode op1a to ATOM mxf.

search for, MXF OP Atom vs op1a

HI Guys
thanks for writing .Yes Peter I don't use avid myself and had not realised that it wanted OP Atom rather that op1a . I'm going to try writing it to VC3 indexed mov. file and also I think I can convert it in Davinci resolve to Atom format . I'll let you know what works. I reckon Vmix must be the op1a version . Apparently Avid can be a nightmare to get stuff to import into.
Cheers

Don't forget you don't have to labour with mxf and can use
Avid's AMA link, it can directly access most codecs
and wrappers, or `works like a normal NLE', with no importing or generation loss.
Option click the file and drag it into a bin.
