Is a slower quad core a better choice for running vMix?

That does not realy help me, the fastest hardware in the market is always the best choice ofcourse.
About the recommended OS: Windows XP seems to be for me a better choice then Windows 7, with the same hardware and same effect, vMix shows in Win7 a higher CPU usage.

It's difficult to say regarding the CPU as 2ghz on one model could be slower than 2ghz on another. If they are the same generation, always go quad core.
As for Windows, always choose Windows 7 or Windows 8. Microsoft will no longer be supporting XP and vMix has some missing audio features under XP (such as the "vMix Audio" device, and the streaming feature)

I didn't know that vMix audio is only working under Win7, thanks for that info!
But still no luck, WME won't work in Win7. (0x80070005 The specified module could not be found).

You could try using Expression Encoder instead.

There is an issue innyour windows Installation WME work fine with Vmix : http://egliseapc.org/untitled.jpg (impossible to see the video on WME in this image, but the image is there) I did already use it. Even with Expression Encoder, Vmix works fine For Info, Dual 3.33 is not real 6.66 Ghz of hard Force, and Quad 2.66 is not really 10.6 Ghz in absolute Power. The hardware link on your machine can influanece the real power of your Unit. As Egriswold told you, moe you approach the requirement, more you can have peace on your mind. Rgds C.
