Hi there

i try to setup a streaming env. using a
* iPhone with NewTek NDI Cam app.
* Windows PC with vMix (Lates today)

The iPhone do have a fast internet connection 4G
The PC have 1G/1G internet connection

(theoretically, there should be bandwidth enough for a smaller test) :-)

both my PCs and my iphone have I installed openvpn, the VPN tunnel itself works, I can both pinge and port scan (and can also see NDI ports 40+)
Mabe my small mockup/diagram makes more sens .-)

By nature, I do not have the ability to change very much up my iphone (besides push routes out through my openvpn server)
but whatever I do, it does not work, what do I do wrong or what should I do to make it work :-) ?

Thanks in advance

I really doubt you have the minimum bandwidth requirements for NDI from a 4G connection, especially through a VPN that consumes more data traffic.

Did you at least checked how much bandwidth is required for NDI before elaborating such an impossible workflow?

Theory is one thing, reality another...

Guillaume

Well I can not rule out you are right.... I just want to see it work .... so can I always decide if I want to use it or not,

do you have any Some ideas, besides pointing out that my bandwidth might becoming a problem?

Thanks in advance

Thank you for your input Unfortunately, both solutions require 2 pcs with some software, and by default, I can not set up PCs in front of my iPhone - do you see my diagram?

We all do...

Again, tell me the bitrate for NDI for both SD and HD streams. This is public information, this is to be known before anything else...

Then check your upload speed with 4G...

Sienna has an iPhone app for Sienna.Cloud in development which acts as a 'contribution node' into a Sienna.Cloud Node Gateway somewhere else. Its a 'mini' Sienna.Cloud node gateway which can only push one stream to another gateway - combined with an iPhone camera app. It uses the same mechanisms as Sienna.Cloud and the quality will be the same. As soon as you fire up the app (from some remote location) and hit start - a new NDI Source will appear on the remote network ready to pick up your stream. Will work on Wifi, 4G and VPNs.

At present this functionality is being merged into the existing Sienna NDICam iPhone app so the one app can either be a real NDI source, or it can be a Sienna.Cloud contribution node. The product is more or less complete but not released due to a perception of limited demand.

No pricing or availability information is available currently, but if this is something of interest to folks, please chime in.

Won't work. Definitely not. I used an iPhone 6 with a very good Wifi AP from Ubiquiti and quality and framerate sucked. NDI from the iPhone Apps is uncompressed and about 100 MBit/s with a 1080p stream.
You could try NDI|HX via a camcorder with attached NewTek Connect Spark. This has a video stream with around 15 MBit/s and could work via LTE connection.

Seb

hello everybody thanks for the answers,
but again everyone is talking about missing bandwidth .. not a word about network setup that's what i need answers to.

Cos it might work, theorically, if you understand what you're dealing with.
The use of openVPN is not ideal anyway as it forces to use an other IP range than your LAN's that will need to be dealt with from an NDI point of view...

But why don't you just try to do it as you're not listening to the advices you're given or reply the questions you're asked?

Or use something like Skype that will handle the connection between the devices, also gives you a return feed.

Hi Kane

It's not a bad idea at all, so it was more important to understand what needed to tie my dimmers together ... so again there are some who can explain the technique .. is it a broadcast or What the cave is there for my vMix (or any other NDI complaint) to see my iPhone (with NDI camera app).

One thing is for sure NDI does not work over a routed network.

since I have to do some high speed and therefore would have to live with a ticket loss. (A little ala tour de france (Motorcycle cameras))

Hi Livepad thx. for youer replay.

I can´t find the App. in Appstore (It is at least not available in my region Denmark)

It's great that some people are actually offering this kind of service that I'm looking for, but it does not solve my project (all my foundation is that I want to do such a service and therefore try to get into what's needed besides having the necessary bandwidth :-))

..
I acepter a smaller image loss, and think with my current bandwidth it will work ok for me.
If I only have to take the bandwidth into consideration, I'm just missing out on what my question is. How do I get tied my iPhone and vMix together (via, for example, my suggestion VPN)

NDI has always been advertised for LAN use. You can use NDI Access Manager to get it to work in some routed network configuration, but this will always be a more difficult setup. Doesn't really have to do anything with NDI, any protocol that uses multicast (which NDI uses for discovery) will not work in routed environments, as routers do not forward multicast packets between networks.
