We find it pretty good as a chatroom. But not easy to incorporate on-screen, other than as a screen-grab. Vmix Social doesn’t support it, yet. And not easy to get an RSS feed out of it. Anyone using it as an input, I wonder?

Hey Pete, I know it's a VERY late reply, but I was just investigating the same myself and I think it needs to be a two-part approach. (Both could run on something like a Raspberry Pi on your local network, from my cursory look)

  1. Set up an IRC server that vMix social can see - https://www.digitalocean...nspircd-2-0-and-shalture
  2. Use Matterbridge to have Discord messages to appear on your IRC server, and vice versa. - https://github.com/42wim/matterbridge/wiki

Simply, it adds a bot to your Discord channel, which takes in all the messages people make, and sends them to your IRC channel where vMix can pick them up.

Worth a shot!

This sounds interresting. Are you running this setup yourself?

Never thought about using it as an input!! That would be really cool... especially when we direct people to use our discord channel during live video podcasts. Having the ability to read a channel using vmix social would be pretty amazing!!!

We've used discord to live stream certain things like scoreboards because it is near zero latency. Really great and underrated program!

Update to this, I finally got an IRC server working on a Raspberry Pi.

Here is the guide I used: https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-irc-server/

Note: I hit a wall which almost made me quit. Turns out, it only works on Raspbian Jessie. Don't use the latest Pi builds or you'll hit the same wall I did. Jessie binaries here: http://downloads.raspber...ges/raspbian-2017-07-05/

Now, I intend to try and get Discord to talk to it. Will report back another time.

Were you able to get this up and running?

I have a rocking Discord community that loves the Vmix Streams I put on and I would love to capture their live comments with Vmix Social.

I just ordered a Raspberry Pi today. Going to see if I can get it working.
