Best setting for recording in H.264 720p

Hi Everyone,
Can I please get some help with recording settings in Vmix?
I want to output two files. H.264 - 720p and H.264 - 1080p
My Equipment:
i7 based pc, GTX650Ti Video card, Black Magic mini recorder capture card (HDMI), Sony HDV Video camera with HDMI out
Recording setting:
AVI, 1920 x 1080, PAL 50i, Decklink MJPEG Compressor
Vmix settings:
Output format is UYVY and Video Render is vmea
What are these supposed to be set at?
What I want is best quality video recordings in H.264. I can't seem to get really crisp recordings with Vmix. To me the picture looks washed out. Picture seems bright if thats the right way to explain it.
When I record straight to Black Magic media express. The output recording is a lot better. When I record to my mac with FCPX and output to 720p, the output is even better again. I have been using FCP for 3 years with great results.
Any help with setting would be appreciated,

In the Windows Control Panel, open up nVidia Control Panel and try the following:
1. Go to Adjust video color settings
2. Select With the NVIDIA settings and under the Advanced tab change Dynamic Range to Full.
That should with the brightness side of things, for better quality try increasing the Bit Rate in vMix Recording Setup.

Hi Martin,
Thanks for the NVIDIA setting. Did that and seems to have made a good difference. Thanks :)
Question: Where do I adjust the bit rate when recording to avi? Also. What would you recommended when trying to create a H.264 - 720p file?
Record in AVI, MJPEG, MP4 Black magic 4:2:2?

Hi Martin,
Sorry to bring this up again. I still think the recording quality of picture looks washed out. Blacks not as black, overall picture looks no where near as crisp.
The vmix recordings look almost pail if that makes sense.
So, I do a whole bunch of tests. Latest test with Blackmagic design media express software. The blacks look black and picture looks a lot more vibrant and defiantly not washed out.
What would can I do to get best performance in vmix? I really want to use vmix for recording and not BMD media express.

The Nvidia setting described above should definitely fix the issue, so double check
an update has not reset it back again.
Also, check the inputs in vMix to see if the black levels are correct.
If they are, then create a short recording to AVI using Decklink MJPEG and check the black levels there.
You can add a Colour Bars input to vMix from Add Input -> Colour to do a more accurate comparison.
If they are different, take a screenshot of vMix and take a still from the recording so I can analyse further.

Hi Martin,
The Nvidia setting had reset itself so changed that.
The blacks stretch was the winner. I moved that to 20 which looked correct. Did a short recording a presto. Looks great.
What should the Black stretch and white stretch levels be set to? I used my eye-o-meter (my eyes) to adjust to what I thought looked great.How do I use colour bars to make it perfect?
