We need a new system for presentation streaming in our LAN/WAN.
vMix seems the best mixing software so far.
I would use it with two HD cameras (preferred Canon Legria HF G10 because i need iLink interface for remote zoom), connected to AVerMedia DarkCrystal HD Capture SDK Duo.
This combination should be ok (any exceptions?).

As output i use Adobe Flash Live Media Encoder streaming to Unreal Media Server. I tested it with vMix demo and this combination works very good.

The problem is the third source. I need the powerpoint output from the presentation pc. vMix desktop capture is no solution. The contributors are often from external companys with their own notebook, software installation is not allowed in this case.
And i cannot assume a notebook with digital video output (DVI-D), it's mostly analog VGA signal. So i need a hardware to convert analog/digital pc video signals and also compatible to vMix. I need only 1280x720p.
Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance
Manfred

This unit has VGA in and VGA out. I see no possibility for a vMix input. And the image quality from such parts are normally very poor.
I need a very good image quality in 1280x720, because we have powerpoints with many text who must be readable without problems. If the solution costs 500 or 600 bucks it's no problem.

Are you looking to capture their VGA outputs? If so we have used these with success.

MaFu. The desktop capture utility will run happily off a USB thumb drive. No need to install it on the client PC.

Thank you for the info, this card sounds good. So i add one DarkCrystal Duo and one Game Broadcaster to my media pc and can mix two cams and one pc output with vMix.
Is it a problem if the presentation pc cannot set 1280x720 output but only 1024x768 or 1280x800 for example?

Another question:
with the GameBroadcaster i have a 60p input. But the cameras works with 50p. Can this be a problem?

Do you mean it can run portable? Does it need admin rights?

Hi all,

We've been asked to provide a similar service in our company - streaming conferences around our LAN and also onto YouTube.

I assume that a guest speaker's laptop has to be connected to our local network in order for the vMix PC to actually see it and get a screenshot? In our case, because our IT department is very strict, it will be impossible for any guest to connect to our network (through the RJ45 connection). So even if we are able to put the vMix desktop capture on the guest speakers laptop, there is now way he will be able to connect to our LAN.

MaFu, how did you get around this? Were you able to grab his desktop/powerpoint by another means?

In the meantime i finished my configuration.

I assembled a pc with i7 cpu, 8 gigs ram and GTX660 graphics card.
A Samsung 840 EVO SSD for system and programs and a WD Blue HDD for recording.
One AverMedia DarkCrystal HD Capture SDK Duo with two connected Canon Legria HF G25.
One AverMedia Game Broadcaster HD for capturing the presentation pc output.
System is Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit and finally vMix HD for mixing.
I use a 23" touch monitor from Acer, works very good with vMix.

Capturing and mixing occurs in full hd (1920x1080i50), then resize to 1280x720 with Adobe Flash Live Media Encoder and forwarding to Unreal Media Server. Finally streaming in our local WAN with Unreal Media Server .
After one week of testing i could say all works like a charm. And the input from Game Broadcaster HD card is excellent.
On 17 Feb. i have the first mission with the new equipment.
