I'm trying to do desktop capture 9.0.0.3 from a Macbook Pro running the latest OSX Mavericks to a PC on Windows 7 running vMix 11.0.0.41. vMix can see the IP address of the Macbook, and allows me to set the settings of the capture, but then when I click "OK" all it shows in the preview window is a red "ERROR" bar, and a black screen. I've tried many different settings, and always I get "ERROR." The computers are on a wired ethernet connection, and can clearly see each other fine. I'm really bummed about this, because I have a broadcast tomorrow morning of an important conference, and now it doesn't look like we'll be able to use desktop capture at all. Not happy. Please, any immediate help is appreciated.

If you click the red error bar it should display a full error message.
You can also click Send Error Report for further investigation.

Here's the full error message.

The parameter value cannot be less than '11520'.
Parameter name: stride
InputMessage

The number in quotations changes depending on the settings input into the desktop capture dialog box.

If I leave it a minute, it gives this error:
D3DERR_INVALIDCALL: Invalid call (-2005530516)

Hi,

Looks like there might be an issue with capturing the high resolution retina display.
In the OSX System Preferences go to Display and change it to Scaled 1920x1080 or lower and see if that helps.

The second message is possibly due to the windows computers graphics card not supporting resolutions greater than 1920x1080

Regards,

Martin

I lowered the resolution to the scaled "Larger Text" that looks like 1024x640, which is the lowest resolution, and it still gives the error with the number "8192."

Could you try downloading the latest drivers for the Intel HD Graphics 3000?

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Graphics&ProductLine=Laptop+graphics+drivers&ProductProduct=2nd+Generation+Intel%C2%AE+Core%E2%84%A2+Processors+with+Intel%C2%AE+HD+Graphics+3000%2f2000&ProdId=3319&LineId=1101&FamilyId=39

Choose either 32bit or 64bit depending on your system.
Also make sure all the latest windows updates have been installed.

Regards,

Martin

Yes, I can try that, but I think the problem is with capturing from the Mac. I can capture a desktop from a Windows PC just fine.

I updated the graphics drivers and other updates, and it still throws the same errors.

Could you got Start and type in msinfo32, then go to the file menu and click Export.
Email this file to info@vmix.com.au for further analysis.

I have just tested vMix Desktop Capture 9.0.0.3 running on Mavericks capturing to vMix 11 running
on Windows 7 so I can confirm everything should work.

Also try running vMix Desktop Capture on the Windows machine and see if you can capture the desktop, just to rule out a potential OSX issue as well.

Have you tried it on the newest Macbook Pro hardware?

I've emailed the msinfo file to info@vmix.com.au. I've also tested running capture on the Windows machine, and it can capture that desktop just fine.

It's been tested on a couple of machines running Mavericks but not on the latest Macbook Pro, but it shouldn't be much different.
Perhaps try different capture settings to see if something works, different width and heights (W and X in the Desktop Capture dialog)
and different Quality/Frames Per Second. Show Cursor ticked, unticked etc.

I tried many different settings, all with the same error (but with different numbers in quotations.)

Thanks for the reports, it looks like I will need to track down
a retina macbook to see what is happening.

Hi,

I also wanted to report that, when turning on Extended desktop on MAC, vMix loses connection with the presentation computer. Not really sure about the MAC version, but I'll try to find out.
