I have had Windows Media Player and older versions of VLC work great with WMV Streaming. I upgraded one PC to VLC Vetinari 3.0.1 and now it will not open up the stream. Windows Media Player works fine still. Also 5KPlayer also works fine. With this new version of VLC we get now the typical connection error:

Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'http://10.120.2.16:8080'. Check the log for details.

If anyone has any ideas on why VLC's new version has trouble opening the WMV Stream I would appreciate it greatly.

Another post indirectly gave the answer. I got this to work by using mms:// instead of http:// (I am new to this and working with VMIX is giving me a chance to learn). I didn't know about MMS protocol. For what it's worth:

There are many streaming protocols available for streaming data. HTTP, RTSP, MMS, RTMP, RTP, MSB, MBSD, RTCP etc. are the streaming protocols.

MMS(Microsoft Media Server Protocol) is a Microsoft Proprietary streaming protocol to transfer real time multimedia from Windows Media Services to Windows Media Player. Usage of this protocol is preferred when Client is streaming from a server that does not support Windows media HTTP streaming protocol or RTSP Windows media extension. MMS is transferred using TCP and UDP connections, the default port is 1755.
