It mentions "full-bandwidth NDI" and "Hardware-based FPGA and SoC technology"

I think so if you use a recording software that supports 10 bits 4:2:2. And a camera that outputs it too...

But wait and see when this device is released

There's a link to the product page. Can't you just click it?

Looks great - liking the audio input 1/4" jack. Kane/Newtek people? - can we get confirmation that this will allow for eg: an external mic to 'inject' audio into the video stream. EG: using a dslr / gopro to capture 4K video, then running a shotgun mic through external power and pre-amp into the audio stream.

I expect that it will work that way, but the only Spark Pro unit I have personally seen was at NAB which was in Dr. Cross's hands from across a crowded room of people with the tally lights wired to be lit. This product is a few months away from shipping.

"A few months"? Still coming in summer, or do we have to wait until IBC? ;)

The best answer I can give is that it will ship when it is ready.

I just tough of something:

Spark Pro is UHD 50fps wichh is amazing.

You could connect four HD sources to a blackmagic multiview 4 or a Lynx PVM1841 to create a quad and then convert it to NDI with the Spark

You end up with an UHD NDI feed that you need to crop/zoom into 4 virtual inputs in vMix.

I would be interrested to compare the cpu/gpu usage of having one UHD NDI input then split it in 4 virtual VS 4 HD one.

This gives you 4 ultra low latency / hardware encoded inputs for 995(spark)+495 USD(multiview).

Hey you again ! ;o)

You already know my thinking about it... It's an interesting workflow for NDI over the Internet in order to feed a remote location with perfectly synced sources.

Hi Guillaume.

If you feed 4 x discreet HD sources from the same device via Sienna Cloud for NDI, they will be frame accurately resynchronised on delivery.
No need to do any funky quad stuff just to keep Multicam sync.

Hi Mark

my reply followed a previous discussion about this in a fb group where I indicated I found it "funky" as you said... I wouldn't do it personnally.
However such a workflow was proposed by another user a few month ago for use with another streaming protocol like RTSP or TS where it could be a solution to solve the sync issue that occurs frequently in this case.

Thanks for the precision though, never had a chance to experiment such a thing so far.

Guillaume
