Hey guys so I've done roughly 4 recordings now and so far from what I can see 3 of them have sections that are glitchy and not recorded. I initially thought it was due to my computer freezing up (it was doing it live), but then I upgraded from 16GB of RAM to 64GB and that eliminated the freezing issue, but the glitchy recording remains.

So the recordings are roughly an hour long and what will happen is that both audio and the video will just glitch for seconds to sometimes minutes at a time losing all recordings. I also know that while recording the CPU and Memory are not even close to running high, because I monitor it, this is a brand new computer, and during live sessions I only have VMix and a browser open with 2 windows.

To match it up with the logs the first instance of this glitch happening:
-It occurs at from 10:45-11:50, 12:28-12:40, 17:04-18:25 and a bunch more
-This matches with log file "Crystal - 23 February 2018 - 11-07-27 PM.mp4.log"

During my next session I'm going to have it record in shorter bits, to see if a longer recording session is causing the issue, but this will be really annoying because I edit these files in post. I'm also going to try and record 2 files, but I'd like to avoid this if possible since this will eat up at all of my space. But this really needs a fix, because I'm probably going to have to drop this app if I need a million workarounds to resolve this basic feature.

I attached the logs, any help would be great, thanks!

Hi,

Looks like the graphics or CPU is being overloaded somehow, according to the logs.
First install the latest update (.55) as this includes a change that will automatically disable geforce experience which is known to cause problems.

If that doesn't help, then go to Settings -> About and click Send Support Report and drop an email to info@vmix.com.au with your license key and we will then be able to identify the problem.

Regards,

Martin

From you mentioning that it's some hardware issue on my end got me thinking so I looked at the log myself and noticed it was pretty general in saying it was a hardware related issue. Unless if my CPU spiked for like a couple seconds that thing never really passed 10-20% during the entire recording session. So out of curiosity I looked at my last 2 recordings that I did last week, and to my surprise...no issues on those.

So it looks like the first 4 recordings that I saw were done on my old hard drive, that hard drive died last week and was giving me issues all the way until it died. So I switched everything over to my new hard drive before the last 2 recordings.

So it turns out that the hard drive that was in the process of dying was causing issues in the recording!

So it looks like the problem is solved, thanks!
