Hi Everyone,

I know that in the vMix User Guide it states "Internal SATA Only" for replay storage connections, but just wondering if anyone has tried an SSD in a USB 3.0 enclosure? Is it unreliable? Cause a lot of system resources? Any issues? We are only interested in 1 camera replays at this time. Also in the replay tests we've done, I find even the lowest quality setting is acceptable.

Many Thanks

I've been using 1TB ssd in usb 3.0 enclosure for replay storage without problems while archive recording on the same drive simultaneously. The ssd bitrate should suffice easily, and usb 3.0 shouldn't affect the seek times required for replaying while recording other than marginally.

Di that 5 times since december 17 without any issues. 1TB Samsung SSD connected to USB3.0 port for Instant Replay with 3 Cameras...

Did hesitate to record on the same drive though,,,.

Great to hear. I will give it a go. I'd rather use internal sata, but our system is in a proprietary case and there are no drive bays or mounting hardware for another internal drive. I may resort to a home made solution someday, but as we are only using a trial and our replay requirements are not high, I thought I would check to see if USB 3.0 could actually be used reliably.

Thanks

Thanks to you all very much.

We finished our production last night and had no problems using an SSD in a USB 3.0 enclosure for replay storage. Just to be safe though, I used only 1 camera, 1280x720 at the lowest bit-rate possible, which was still more than what we needed.

Thanks again.
