Together with Martin Steed I was trying out a few things and maybe we're doing something wrong but it can also be a bug...
Bringing in an image and then modifying it's size for instance (let's say zoom 0.5) following by creating a virtual input from this, stretches out the image.
No way we get the original proportions back...
Any ideas?

I just tried it, openend an image, dis zoom 0.5 and created a virtual input of it... No stretched out image and I'm able to get it back to original proportions.
So now is the question where it goes wrong.
Which version of vMix are you using?

Thanks for verifying, Mari!
I'm on 20.0.0.46 x64 on an ASUS laptop, for Martin I'm not sure (he has a vMix Go but probably also the latest version of vMix). It's good you don't have it; still wondering why we have this problem (tested with different graphics).
Regards, Rudy

Thanks Doggy! I'm also thinking on the aspect ratio thing. Going to make some different image sizes and see what's happening...

Can you share that image, maybe one of the vMix crew can take a look at it (an others can verify it happens with them also).

Well,
I've just created an image with a 16x9 ratio. Zoom 0.5 > virtual input: everything ok
I created an image with a 4x3 ratio > zoom 0.5 > virtual input: stretched
My assumption is that because my project is 1080p, whenever I change something on a non 16x9 ratio, vMix is trying to make it a 16x9 when creating a virtual input. Correct?

I used a 16x9 ratio image in my test, just used a 4x3 ration and indeed it's getting stretched when creating a virtual input!

The Virtual Input is essentially a bare bones copy of the source input and doesn't always support many of the features unique to certain inputs. For example you can't control playback of a video in a Virtual Input being an obvious example and in this case the custom aspect ratio adjustments the Image input has won't work either.
For this reason, it is better to simply add a Blank input and assign the image input you wish to use as a MultiView layer and work from there. You will preserve everything from the Image input exactly and be able to add new layers and adjust it's size independently if needed.
Hope this helps.

Martin vMix
