Hello Fellow vMixers,
We are currently planning a custom built desktop replacement laptop and we have been given a choice of an i5-8600K (Desktop Grade) CPU instead of an i7-7700HQ.
We saw the benchmarks here >> http://cpu.userbenchmark...e-i5-8600K/m211019vs3941
But we wanted to know of your thoughts around the new 8th GEN Intel processors?
Are they really good with vMix?
We will be using an nVidia 1060 - 6gb with it as well.

Any thoughts and feedback is more than welcome!!

Supreet

I dialed up a comparison using passmark.com: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp[]=2906&cmp[]=3100

The i5 significantly bests the older i7 by more than 20%; 8900 vs 12800.

One significant factor being that the 7700HQ is a laptop part. It draws a lot less power, but delivers less compute power as a result. The i5 is a desktop part. Draws twice the power.

Also, the i5 is a 6-core CPU. More threads at your disposal.
