We have bee recording our church services with a small camcorder to SD for some time and we are upgrading the setup. Here is what we have now

Skull canyon Intel
I7
32GB Ram
512 SSD
2 PTZOptics Cameras conencted via RSTP (will upgrade to NDI when released)
VMIX 4K (dont need 4K but wanted the PTZ controls)
Post processing in FinalCut Pro

A couple of questions
Would it be okay to record straight to an SDXC card connected to the computer?
What speed card do we need to do this? ( I know it is a UHS-I slot)
What settings should I be using for recording? (codec/compression/format)
I know the camera can do 60fps of 1080p, but I am wondering for file size and processing power it would be better to do a lower fps. Would anyone notice the change to 30fps for a church service?
Any other thoughts from you that do this?

Not recommended to record to SD card due to speed limitations of the card..
Better to use HDD or SSD.

Thanks Desmar for your thoughts on the SD card. What kind of transfer rates do I need to be able to support? Also do you have any thoughts on the other questions?

If there isn't a bunch of fast movement (such as sports) you could use 1080p/30 instead of 1080p/60. Go to YouTube or another source, and check out comparisons between the two frame rates. Or just do some of your own tests.

There should be enough room on your SSD for recording instead of using a SD card. Just make sure after you have transfered, edited, and have a completed service, then delete the files from the vMix computer.

Go to the vMix User Guide, then to Recording / Settings to read about the different recording codecs and settings.

I use FFMPEG/MPEG-2/Transport Stream (.ts) and MP4. Both have their advantages. AVI produces huge files.
