In the Obsidian fancy no holds barred 4k do anything build the Big Bosses suggest a very fast Sansung 960 NMVe 1TB M.2 SSD.
I wondered....is that the best way to build a stand alone system. .???
First, soon that 1TB drive will be overflowing.
Second, several of the guys who are constantly helping out folks on this forum have consistently recommended that the programs and operating system be on one smallish SSD (maybe sata?) and the rest of the files necessary to do the shows be on a separate and larger NVMe SSD drive. When the big SSD is overflowing the programs are moved to some sort of back-up set up.
I sure would like to know what the real pros out there do. Is one large fast SSD really best?
In trying to figure out why several very experienced guys recommend at least two SSD drives i tried to search the web and saw things which were possibly relevant (like Premier Pro being 6-7 times faster if the cache is separated from the program according to Puget)....but, nothing seemed spot on regarding vMix.
What is best set-up for a dedicated and robust vMix system?
I sure appreciate all the comments and help.
Thanks
Rob

I run double Samsung 960 EVOs (M.2)
First one with 250GB,just OS and VMIX Second 500gb for assets reading / replay
If you need recording you can add an extra Firecuda at the size which serves your needs.
In my use, having a dedicated 960 evo just for assets / replay increased the performance considerably.

Mr. Streamer,
How often are you cleaning out your 500 gig drive...i know you are creating content every day almost; and, it seems like it would be a constant task to keep plenty of space clear.
How do you manage this.....?

We archive every week... as the fixed assets occupy less than 100gb, not a hard task.

Rob Chromakey recording for post editing = NEWTEK 4:2:2 (careful with videos with more than 10minutes + adobe premiere) Recording for post editing = H264 75Mbps (hardware encoded) PGM recording = H264 20Mbps (hardware encoded)

Thank you very much. I capture the PGM within another 7700k PC, and x264 encode it to a cloud rtmp service (then broadcast it to several platforms simultaneously) The rest of the specs aren't important for this one.
