YT Live involves setting up an event in the content manager, stream now does not and goes live instantly.

Additionally, Stream Now allows you to have a player embedded on your website so that if you run a regular live event, you do not need to update the embed code on your website. The embed code is as follows (for example): <iframe width="560" height="315" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen" frameborder="0" id="ytplayer" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/live_stream?channel=CHANNELID"></iframe> You need to change CHANNELID to whatever your channel id is. You can find out how to get hold of your channel id here: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/3250431As I say, if you do this, the "live" player embed code never changes so you don't need to edit your webpage each time you stream, which you do if you set up a fixed event. While you're not streaming you'll see a "stream offline" message in the player. Each time you stop streaming, Youtube creates an archived recording as usual and you can use the standard embed code for that if you need to share on social media or whatever.
