Hi all,

We have 2x Black Magic 4k Micro Studio cameras. We have them through BM 4K Capture Cards, new PC with plenty of grunt.

We want to take a wider shot and chop it up into a few smaller shots. We have this working but want to check our method as we have some grain in the image but I think it is from the camera (need to hook up a HDMI monitor to see for sure, but these cameras are mounted up and out of the way and hard to get to).

We create a new input, select camera input and choose the Resolution of 3840x2160. Our production however is set to 1080p, and we output in 1080p.

We take the input from above and create virtual inputs that we then crop by a factor of 2 (or less), then frame as desired.

Does the above make sense. Is this how you would do it?

Thanks all.

Your approach seems sensible. It's the very same sort of thing that I've done using 4K & 1080p sources in a 720p project.

Thinking about it just now, it would be really great of there was a zoom option that automatically sets the sources to be zoomed to a 1:1 pixel relationship between the source and the canvas size. That way you could be sure that you're not blowing up the source, losing image quality.

And you are seeing good quality on your cropped sources in the output at 720p?
