Howdy...
I'm looking for suggestions for the best recording codec on vMix to edit in FCP and Premiere on a Mac...
I see a lot of folks using MagicYUV with vMix... Does that have a QuickTime component that will make it FCP-compaticle?
Looking for something more CPU friendly than H.264....

Hi
If you have enough storage and CPU on vMix, just go with ProRes or VC3/DNxHD.
You could also try SHQ2 codec (from Newtek). I know it works with Premiere but never tried with FCP. It's pretty much the same specs and quality as ProRes.
More CPU friendly than H.264? On vMix host or post-production computer? Because on vMix if you use hardware encoding for h.264, it's the GPU doing all the work so it cannot be more CPU friendly.
H.264/MP4 at high bitrates (25 Mbits and above) is imho the most CPU friendly and the most compatible option for recording and post editing.
