venturing into new areas here for me.

I checked and my encoder ( on a separate computer on the same network ) and it says the stream URL is;

RTMP:////localhost:1935/live/

I tried to use this URL as an input via the "Flash/RTMP" option but saw nothing. I believe the localhost reference is only valid on that computer.

I am thinking if I find the IP address of that computer on th network and then try using this URL;

RTMP://192.168.0.4:1935/live/

I might capture the stream.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

Thanks

Whit

Hi

this stream url is supposed to be used to stream to A STREAMING SERVER. That's what an encoder does. That's the principle to respect when using RTMP as a protocol.

If you don't have a local streaming server on your LAN (or in the cloud), then you cannot do this.

If your encoder supports other protocols like RTSP or Multicast TS for example, then you can get rid of the mandatory streaming server to feed vMix.

Thanks Guillaume

This is not what I wanted to hear but as you said, I must respect the principle, I will explore the other protocols.

Thanks again

Which encoder are you using? Many of them are able to use many protocols for streaming. Give us a reference model or software name if you want more help.

The computer is a HP Z440 and the video is from a Pixellot camera, 4 lens stitched together. The Pixellot software said "Stream is rtmp:////localhost:1935/live/

Unfortunately I can't alter anything on that computer, I just wanted to capture the video this computer was streaming

Thanks
