Hi all

We have a consistent issue. Not a deal breaker, but probably a bug.

On most of our productions, we run 2 streams. Thing is, that if we start the 2 streams, it is not possible to press record.
If we start by pressing record, we can start the 2 streams.

We have the same issue on all our production systems.

Are we the only ones with this issue, or can anyone out there test it and report back, wether it's a known bug or just us?

I have not had this issue. Are you using the hardware encoding when you stream and record? Note that there are limits on the number of encodes that graphics cards support at one time. It maybe that you are running into that.

I have, on several occasions, gone to bother YT and FB and been recording. I usually click the record, then start streaming so I don't forget and miss any content.

We do use hardware encoding on streams. But with i7, 16GB, 1060 it should not be an issue, I can imagine. Especially when it works if starting recording first.

Most graphics cards only have 2 H264 hardware encoders.

So this means, you can only use 2 hardware encoders and any other encoding needs to be done by the CPU.

SOLUTION: Turn ON hardware encoding on the 2 streams and switch it OFF for the recording. This ensures you are 100# certain you will make use of the 2 GPU encoders.

You can get more hardware encoders with a quadro card. But I wouldn't bother with a quadro because a CPU should handle the 3rd encoding process.
thanks 1 user thanked mashynewie2 for this useful post.
