Hi
I am pretty certain what I am asking is not possible within Vmix -- unless I use an external mixer.
I have two shots. One is a video and when it finishes it triggers to my live shot.
I would like music to bridge between the two shots.
The music would start during the opening prerecorded video and continue during the live video for a short time.
I tried setting up the music on a separate input but of course it cannot play under both shots.
So I if I want to do this I guess I would need an external mixer. (Either hardware mixer or perhaps a software mixer?)
It would be nice to be able to do that within Vmix but I know Vmix can't be everything to everybody :)
But maybe there is some trick to do it all within Vmix.
Any thoughts?
Thanks Rowby

Thanks Rowby This is possible, like you said make the music a separate input. Just make sure the follow button in the audio section of the input is off. The easiest way is to make a trigger that starts the music when the video start and you can use triggers to turn the volume down as the live video comes on and continue to go down till it’s off. All without touching the audio controls. I do this on my show.

@ rowby
This should be possible (if I understand you correctly). Is it safe to assume the 'music bridge' you want is an Audio file Input in vMix? On your opening video clip Input, set up a couple of Triggers to turn on (AudioON) and PLAY your music bridge Input at the appropriate time depending on when during the clip you want the music to start (you'll need to figure out the delay required in milliseconds). On your Live Video Input, set up a Trigger (or series of Triggers) to either lower, fade or turn off the Music Input (SetVolume and/or AudioOff) Hope that helps to give you the effect you want.

Or you can go a different route and add the Music file to your video inout as a Multiview, then control the audio manually.
Ah... the beauty of options with vMix!

@ rowby As ask suggests, the "Audio follows Video" has a tic box in settings (cog wheel -> General -> [tic box] Automatically mix audio) Or in the vMix Audio Mixer (Double Arrow Button) Ice

Hi IceStream, I've got the music to play under an image. And have triggers set up 1) To Turn Audio ON 2) To play a music track (wav) 3) After a delay to cut to another image. However item #3 is not working. It will not cut to the other image. Here is a screen capture of my settings. BTW if I cut manually to the 2nd image the music continues playing, and that is good. rowby attached the following image(s): Triggers-Tuesday.jpg (225kb) downloaded 2 time(s).You cannot view/download attachments. @ rowby This behavior is by design and is to prevent undesirable loops. From the vMix documentation: Note that in order to prevent loops, transition effects have no effect for OnTransitionIn or OnTransitionOut.http://www.vmix.com/help19/Triggers.htmlThere are creative workarounds if you are up to the challenge. In this case, for the effect you want, I would add a Title/XAML Input (choose Text but delete all text fields, so essentially a blank Input). Change your third Trigger Function above to "OverlayInput1" and set the Input to the Blank Text Input. Add a forth Trigger to remove the Overlay: "OnTransitionIn -> OverlayInput1Out -> (appropriate delay to accommodate effect). Now add a Trigger to the Blank Text Input: "OnOverlayOut -> Cut -> (Input of choice) -> (appropriate delay if necessary) Hope that helps. Ice

I use the “on completion” trigger to transition to the live feed after the intro.

@ Potimus
The "OnCompletion" Trigger Function works great for Inputs that have an actual stop point (like a video clip). Non timed Inputs (like pictures, graphics or cameras) never "complete" so there is no Trigger point, which is the case in rowby's most recent described scenario above.

Hi all
This is a great thread for me -- and others who need to do this.
I will resume on my end after Friday. I'm doing a live show then and don't want to try too many "new" things. I think I know now what to do, but have some other priorities for the show that I need to take care of first.
I'll report back here after Friday of my status on this issue.
