Good evening.

I've been using VMix to stream a webcam to Ustream with no issues for a couple of years. Windows 10 HP Laptop. vMix 19

This morning I was unable to log in to UStream and am getting the following vMix error:

Name cannot begin with the '9' character, hexadecimal value 0x39. line 39, position 5 (Provider. Login).

I've tried other computers, all giving me the same error message.

I've tried different versions of vMix, thinking it may be vMis 19. Versions 17 and 18 give me the same error.

This is leading me to believe the problem is on UStream's end, but I can't find anything saying there are problem today.

Has anyone else seen this problem before with UStream or are you having it today?

Any help would be appreciated.

The Ustream API has changed, so it's not your fault. We must wait for the updated VMIX version (I think).

This just happened this morning, for me.

I was logged in, streaming away with no problems yesterday and can't connect today.

Did this Ustream API change just happen?

One more piece of information...

I went back to an old Adobe Flash Media Encoder set-up I used to use when i had a hard wired camera to stream. It connects to Ustream just fine and still streams...

So whatever changed with UStream seems to only be affecting vMix connectivity.

Sounds like I need to check the UStream ID/Password. Maybe that got changed/hacked/corrupted.

It's my wife's account (outside bird cam), so I'll have her see if anything changed.

Thanks for the account check Jim_C!

Update - I found a work-around!!!

I had my wife change the password to the UStream account.

That password change works if she logs in directly, but the errors produced by trying to connect the stream from vMix using ID and Password didn't change.

I can get the error message to change if I try to use the wrong password, but cannot complete the connection with the correct information.

The fact that I could get Flash Media Encoder to work got me thinking and I set up a direct to UStream connection using the RTSP URL direct to UStream for her account (with the Stream Identifier).

VOILA!!! It works!!!

So, I am back in business stream her backyard bird cam, but the underlying problem of not being able to connect the streaming with ID and Password is still there.

I can continue to work on that, but I've got a happier wife now...

If anyone comes up with any ideas on the ID and Password Issue to connect to UStream, please write them down here.

Thank You!

Bruce,
I only stream to YouTube (and was FB till the stopped dual streaming) so uStream is new to me. Is Stream Identifier a third party app? Just trying to figure out how to set up uStream using the correct RTSP settings.

Thanks!

Tim
