Good evening, I would like to ask if you can make a video stream from Vmix to a VLC player, to make a link from external to the studio. Vmix is outside, Vlc is in the central study.
If there is a tutorial to understand how to do it? Thank you

Ciao
not quite clear...
If I understood it well, you want to feed VLC with the output of vMix, right ?
It can't be done with a "direct" stream. But if VLC and vMix are on the same computer, you can activate external out of vMix and get the output in VLC simply by opening a virtual capture device called vMix Video and vMix Audio.
Another solution is to use a streaming server in between vMix and VLC. Check Mist Server for instance. vMix streams RTMP to Mist which provides many delivery protocols that VLC can play for that stream.
Finally it's also possible to use NDI Transmit from Newtek. This app plays available NDI streams on your network and delivers them as virtual capture devices (same thing vMix does locally)
Hope this helps Guillaume

Sorry to butt in but I have the same questions... The External 2 output is greyed out in my vMix (HD version). Is that what is required for external recording?
The VLC player I have shows vMix Video and vMix External 2 options in the drop down. I have tried with both but I am missing something in starting the capture sequence in VLC
vMix is pretty straightforward - just click Record and External buttons. Its the VLC sequence that is confusing. Any advice on the correct sequence to set up and start the recording process?

Hi Pesi
external 2 is available in vMix 4K and vMix Pro only. You don't need external 2 to record externally.
If you are not familiar with VLC, there's a lot to explain. I won't... You can easily find tons of tutorials on the internet for how to record from a capture device in VLC.
However I think you are using "open a network stream" in VLC. This is to PLAY a stream only. Use instead the "Stream" function, select vMix Video and Audio as capture devices as a source and then follow the wizard in order to record to a FILE.
If you want an easier solution you can do the same thing with OBS studio. Maybe you will find it easier to use.
