firewire issue with hdr fx1 sony

I have an old sony hdr fx1 that I wanted to use as a 2nd camera, it had firewire out, I can see the video out in my inport section of my video editor so I know the ports are working. Even vmix sees it under cameras but when i try to add it i get this error:

AddNewInput.INPUT_CAPTURE
Class not registered

any ideas?
