Hi all,
Tried searching for confirmation but couldn't find an answer.
Am I right in assuming that when I bring cameras and audio inputs in that they should all be sync'd?
Because they're not, I'm bringing in a mic in to the sound card, the Logitech webcam (1080p25) and a camcorder in to the Mini recorder and the Decklink both at 1080i50. The signal arrives at Vmix in that order. The audio from the sound card is around 280ms ahead of the first video input.
Surely I don't have to go through a lengthy sync'ing procedure every time I setup with different amounts of cameras and audio inputs?
If I had one capture device (a decklink duo 2 for example) would all inputs to the device be delayed by the same amount regardless of input resolution?

In a perfect world yes, but perfect sync can only be achieved with broadcast equipments designed for it and using SMPTE generators/clocks or reference signals. Many factors contribute to what you noticed - mixing capture technologies - mixing cable types (HDMI SDI USB) - use of specific drivers or not (for audio, ASIO vs standard for instance) - type of workflow - use of converters - inner latency of equipments To name of few... I'm quite surprised you get 280ms, that's huge, but maybe it's normal depending on your setup and the drivers you use. You can easily add a delay on your audio input. Yes having a multi input capture card solves (partially) this. Guillaume

Also, a signal can be delayed by how it's used in vMix. For example, bringing a simple webcam in at higher resolution than the project, then resizing & repositioning it into the scene adds delay.
I first noticed this when using the Logitech Brio at 4K30 in a 720p30 project. There's no such delay when used at the camera resolution matches the project.

OK, thanks guys.
Is there any easier way to sync everything up instead of just doing it by manual trial and error? I'm doing a lot of clapping in to the cameras at the moment.
