Sometimes files do not have the correct extension. It could be a wav file with mp3 extension for example... with mediainfo you should be able to check the metadata for this file... you can also try to convert it to WAV for example

Did you really transcode the original Mp4 or simply extract audio stream? Please use mediainfo to check metadata: https://mediaarea.net/

Go to the Cog on the MP4 input, go to Color Adjust, move Black Stretch to 255. Black screen with audio playback.

I'd bet for AAC. What does MediaInfo say about audio in your MP4 file? You can play audio only in this MP4 video in vMix: make sure the audio icon is green for this input and press play.

The issue at hand is why it causes vMix to crash and as DWAM has suggested, it might not recognize transcoding you used. Ice
