I have some camera inputs and I have separate audio inputs for the mics on the talent in each camera. Is there some way I can script/trigger vMix so that when a given camera is on air, its associated audio input is live, and when off air it is off?
This doesn't seem possible with triggers, since there is no 'on air' action--I am not switching to the cameras directly (they are part of layer looks) so using onCompletion doesn't work.
Could this be possible with scripting, or some other approach?

Could this be possible with scripting, or some other approach? Search :-) Scripting for dummies has a script but for Mix inputs . Similar logic could be used for regular inputs or layers All depends a bit on how you have configured the multiviews and are manipulating them https://forums.vmix.com/...ng-for-Dummies#post99504

Just add your audio input to camera input's Multiview/Layer. It won't show up but will mix audio automatically.

I have one show where I use merge transitions to bring active and inactive speakers in and out of the field of view. Because of the way I build my multiviews, the default AFV mixing doesn't work.
Each input has a set of AudioOn and AudioOff triggers that I can copy between the various inputs, and just check and uncheck as needed. It took a while to build and test, but it's VERY effective.

Obvious when you think about it, but it hadn’t twigged that AFV would work for an audio only source. The one downside is that the audio doesn’t seem to come on until the transition has completed, whereas it should really be live from the start of the transition.

I believe that you are mistaken since I have always had audio from the start of the transition. If I do a 5-second fade then audio fades in as well during that 5 seconds. Also, if I merge, then audio fades as well since default merge method is fade. The green speaker icon in the audio mixer can not be trusted since it shows "status" from the end of the transition but the audio itself comes on from the start of the transition.
