Hi all,
last night i said to me:" Will it works ? ", so i decided to try ...

Here are my specs:

- Apple MackBook Pro M1 with 16 GB of Ram and 512 Hdd
- Usb Video Capature (will test on BlackMagic DeckLink Duo 2 asap)
- Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen
- Parallels 16 Pro (Trial Version)
- Windows 10 ARM (dev stream build - 21376.1)
- vMix 24.0.0.58 (Trial Version, i don't want to mess up my license)

How To:

- Download and install Parallels 16 Pro (trial version works).
- Register to Windows' insider program and download it (Windows10_InsiderPreview_Client_ARM64_en-us_21354.VHDX)
- Install the vhdx image with Parallels and boot Windows
- Update Win10 (dev stream build 21376.1) and also install the .net 3.5/4.8 cumulative update
- Control Panel > Programs > Windows Features > tick the .net 3.5 checkbox and it should download&install successfully
- Download and install vMix

I did it just for test (and fun), using the default settings for all (Parallels, Win and vMix) and using 4 cores.

I can stream on 2 channel (FaceBook and Vimeo) Preset: 1080p @ 6Mbps.
Played some mov, mp4 and a live hdmi input with my voice from Scarlett and titles.

I will not going deep to test particular things (green back, strange compositions or vMix call)
because if i have to work with vMix, i already have the right machines (and M1 isn't in the list).

But i can state that if you are in need, a live stream with just the Program captured and some titles or played vids, can be done.

I think that with next gen of Silicon Mx processors, maybe the things will be more interesting.

If some of you can test with pro hardware or doing the things i skipped, it can be fun to see the results.

Cheers

Interesting. Novel even. But doomed to be sub-optimal. No nVidia GPU. SSD issues. Limited ports.

You'd be better off running something Mac native. Even then, the current MBA & MBP M1 are less than ideal hosts.

I can confirm that i have successfully used Parallels using a new Mac Mini running the new M1 Chip. I have tested parallels using the new Windows 11 client from Insider Preview and i am currently running and deep testing a full vMix show, running 2 Magewell External SDI Cards and everything has been running smooth so far. I have dedicated pretty much all the cores from the mac and also 12gb Mem, which seems to be running smoothly. As regards to installing vMix using my 4K License was not a problem, it prompted the install of the .net 3.5 Framework before it continued to install vMix. Currently Running the most upto date vMix version 24.

Windows 11 Insider Preview Client ARM64 - 22454

-- Did a test stream running 1080 at 30fps 6mbp whilst also Recording the Stream, everything worked fine, no hiccups.

This isn't just interesting, this is rather a sign of things to come. I hope vMix will eventually be updated to take advantage of ARM processors. Or perhaps branched, because I find vMix to be extremely stable as it stands.
Just take a look at the supercomputer capabilities of the M1 Max when rendering ProRes compared to the Mac Pro's ProRes dedicated card.

We're you successful using NDI sources from a MAC on the LAN? I've not been able to, nor have I been able to successfully input a signal through a BlackMagic Design Ultrastudio recorder 3G.
I'm on a M1X Mac, 16GB, Parallels 17, Windows 11.

Yes, from 4 ndi ptz cams without problems.

The 3g thunderbolt recorder device it's not recognized from the M1 ... therefore can't be available to the windows guest OS.

I was able to see the Recorder 3g image through the BlackMagic Media express program so it's getting into the M1, just not being seen through Parallels and Windows 11?

Have you been able to get NDI from another laptop on the LAN?

Thanks.

I only used BlackMagic Design Media express to test the incoming signal.
As far as the NDI... I need to get a laptop Power Point into vMIX from another Mac laptop. The vMIX doesn't see the NDI signal through vMIX desktop capture.

Power off windows and check the network card to be bridged mode, not NAT mode.
With bridged mode will obtain a dedicated IP address in the network.

I don't know because my M1 don't see the device in native mode with the Desktop app... Therefore surely will not work in Windows if the main OS can't see and pass it.
