Being able to put all your multirecorder files into one folder is great. Being able to customize the naming convention of the individual files would be even better. Being able to tie part of the custom prefix to a GT title field such as a custom slate driven by a data source would be fantastic.

Might be a good idea if you could specify more this how in practice this would look/function especially the latter

The good old trick is to rename them when stop recording (based on data within a Title (GT or Legacy) or other source ) with a script to your own specifics and needs. Can then even save them in specific folders based on the various data. Heck one of the script examples in the knowledge base is related/usable for that as a foundation
thanks 1 user thanked doggy for this useful post.

I have a slate GT title that goes on the head of my program record for studio shoots. It has client information, current time, name of segment and take number. It's driven off a spreadsheet so I build my slate on the sheet, then just increment it using companion [next row or last row]. That way, I have a verified slate for the editor to refer to.

If the custom file name function in multicorder could give you a few fields that you could tie to a data source, the way you can with GT titles, then all your files would be named in sync with the slate and save the tedious step at the end of a long recording day of making sure your editor has an easy way of conforming all your files to a multi-edit, etc. I've been using a bulk renamer after the fact, but this opens the work flow up to human error and tune waste as the editor digs through a pile of footage with just time and date stamps. Custom renaming of the individual sources would be helpful here too, as "wide angle" might be a more descriptive way to name files than "output 1", for instance.

At the end of a long day of shooting, I might have 50 takes with six or seven records per take, so being able to automate the naming convention before the fact would be a huge win for me, and probably other users.

I will look for the posts regarding doing this after the fact. Thanks for the referral.

Familiar with your wish. not uncommon for us to handle close to a couple of thousand clip a day that have to be named. (recordings instead of multicorder)
They are renamed (as a copy so the original remains as backup) based on a few GT title items driven by a data source at the moment a recording stops automatically. Due to the speed of following recordings it is not such a bad idea the renaming happens at the end as it give us time to be sure the correct data is in the title. in addition one can also put markers or other info in the clip's log file (Writeto recordingLog) by means of shortcut or automated.
While possible with scripting an external running app is more userfriendly (and not limited in use to 4K and higher licenses) and more options for specific or aditional settings etc
Has been a huge timesaver
