Lets face it: Everyone's at-home microphone is terrible. We want to be able to work with this audio better, and in most of our studios, we're working with digital consoles with a lot of power that can also accept Dante no problem. But we're limited to our audio outputs in vMix, and bussing all our callers together means having 8 different sound problems that can't be individually addressed, so we can't work with it that way either.

I propose that, much like we have the feature to send our calls out as independent NDI sources, we also add the ability to route out our vMix call lines to individual Dante outputs. To be able to individually mix each input on a console, do audio repairs, be able to feed it through effects and even auto mixers, and send it back into vMix with virtually no latency would give all our broadcasts an extra polish, step up vMix as a professional switching software, and give work to our A1's that we've been dying to bring into our productions.

Please consider, I feel this is a much-needed, very late addition that would bring all our shows to the next level.

+1 but... IMO it shouldn't just be direct outputs it should be inserts as well..

in the channel window (above plugins) add another tab "inserts/direct outs" where you select output devices such as dante, audio hardware output or VAC driver etc and an option to select either "direct output" or "insert"..

If insert is chosen you also select an input device for the return signal.. so the audio goes out/in and then proceeds to VST plugins and other normal vMix signal path.. the reason an insert makes sense is because you wouldnt need to add an additional audio input for the return signal. only one input used in the project, not two..

if direct out is selected instead, then you choose output device but no return input device is needed and the original audio goes directly to VST plugins (the direct out just taps the signal)... the benefit to direct out is 8 callers could be sent to 8 individual dante channels but only returned as stereo input in vMix.. good if you want a dedicated sound person doing all mixing externally..

both options have benefits and both are similar enough functions that maybe they could be implemented under one development ?

overall it would be good if some attention was directed towards audio features like this.. its the main area of vMix which has room to be better IMO..

I don't know Dante, so there's probably something I'm missing here, but I'm confused as to how this isn't just saying "Add more audio buses"?
