I will be replacing an old HDMI camera with a PTZ camera. The old camera is ceiling mounted and has the HDMI cable run through the attic. The cable runs to the vMix computer and is attached to a Magewell HDMI 4 port card. Is there any advantage to NDI that HDMI does not have? If NDI is better, what hardware will I need?

If you've got the HDMI capture card and the cable in place, then I can't see any advantage to using NDI in terms of picture quality (mildly-compressed NDI vs uncompressed HDMI). If you need to make use of a tally light controlled via NDI, then that could be one advantage, along with camera control via NDI (although you might choose a different control protocol). Either way you will probably need to run an ethernet cable for the camera control, but there's no particular reason to abandon the HDMI video signal path.

Ethernet can deliver power as well as video & PTZ control.
