Hi all,

I'm going to be building a vMix system for a client soon. Given the current GPU wasteland, I am not sure I'm going to be able to get an RTX in a new build. Though, I see that from the Supported Hardware page, performance shouldn't be terrible with a GTX 1650, but I am looking for real-world testimonies.

To be more specific, the system will have the following specs and other inputs:
Intel Core i9 (probably 10th Gen)
32GB RAM
NVMe SSDs

vMix will have 4-6 1080p60 NDI (non-HX) inputs. I may do 1x SDI input, but that may not be required. Output is slated to be HDMI from the GPU. The system will not be doing Instant Replay or streaming/encoding/recording.

Thoughts?

I would recommend checking the PCI lanes and go for a system that allows for 20+ lanes.
I'm running a relatively old PC with a Xeon E5-2630v4, 16GB Ram, Quadro P2200 and very relaxed and stable with all the tasks.
The sytem supports 40 lanes:
16x GPU
4x NVMe
4x Capture card
4x Output card
4x Network card

So I still have 8 lanes free. All the cards will get full speed and no shared anything. This makes a huge difference in my experience.

I used a GeForce 1080, and my son a 1660 super. You have to patch these cards to get around the hardware encode limit which is very easy.
The 1660 and 1080 are free and I could offer you.
