When I used the video instructions as to how to run Zoom from a laptop while running vMix on my main desktop computer, I cannot get the audio from Zoom into vMix. If I turn on BusA, lots of distortion.

Main VMix PC – Desktop (connected Ethernet Netgear switcher)

These are the instructions I follow when setting up:

Settings
1. Outputs/NDI/SRT – output 1 – NDI On
2. Audio Outputs - Audio Channels BusA enabled
3. Audio Mixer in vMix – audio set to BusA – My microphone

Zoom PC – Laptop (connected Ethernet Netgear switcher)

Settings
1. NewTek NDI webcam input on – Main VMix PC – select vMix – Output 1

Open Zoom and Start Meeting
1. Set microphone to Line (NewTek NDI Audio)
2. Set Camera to NewTek NDI Video

Open and Run vMix Desktop Capture application on the Zoom PC

CONNECTING BOTH PC’s TOGETHER

Main VMix PC – Add Input – NDI/Desktop Capture – Laptop Display1

At this point I should be able to hear the audio from the Zoom call in my inner ear monitors.

But instead I hear Zoom call audio from the Laptop speaker and my zoom guest can only hear me through the mic on the laptop.

vMix picks up both the speaker on the Laptop and the USB Blue Yeti that I use.

What am I not doing that is not allowing the Zoom audio to be feed along with the video from the Zoom laptop into vMix?

RE: Zoom guest not hearing Bus A audio: In vMix Output Settings, for Output 1, to the right of the green NDI On button, have you clicked on the cog wheel and in the popup window selected Bus A as the Audio Source in the dropdown menu?

Also, in vMix Audio Output settings, for Bus A, have you selected "Enabled"?

I would also ensure your laptop speakers are turned off so that your mic on your vMix machine is not picking up the guests's audio coming through your laptop speakers.

Re: You not hearing guest in your vMix production: In vMix, when you add the NDI Desktop Capture of the Zoom guest as an input, do you see blue or green audio meters moving on the right edge of the input?

I have enabled BusA and set it in the audio mixer.

On one occasion I was able to get audio with the laptop display1 NDI feed in vMix. The meter indicated was blue, which indicated that the audio was muted. I have not been able to duplicate that outcome again.

Instead, there is no metered indicator of audio. The video comes thru perfectly, but no audio.

When I hit "record" in vMix. Any audio from zoom guest does not record, but my responses and the video is excellent.

If I hit "record" in Zoom on the laptop, the audio is perfect.

It's worth, I think, pointing out the alternatives to doing this the way you're trying to do it.

1) Zoom Rooms, for ~$50/month, now has native NDI out. That'd be the easiest & cleanest way to do this.

2) The cleanest way to do this without using the native NDI would probably be to use NDI or some other network-based audio solution as your Zoom audio output, then feed that directly into vMix & adjust the delay as necessary.

I seem to recall one time when I encountered a similar issue where I couldn't bring in a Desktop Capture from another computer on my network. I think it was either because I didn't have the same version of NDI tools installed on both computers or perhaps there was a corrupt file. If I recall correctly, I think I uninstalled NDI Tools on both computers and then reinstalled from scratch and that did the trick.

I used vMix Desktop Capture with Zoom a week ago with no issues on either audio or video.

Beyond enabling Bus A and setting it in the audio mixer, have you also selected it via the dropdown menu in the cog wheel to the right of the Green NDI On button in the vMix Output settings?

Men,

thank you for your responses to my question. I finally figured out the problem. It was in fact two different versions of NDI. With that correction, we are good to go!

You can check the Version if you go to the Installation path

(C:\Program Files\NDI\NDI 5 Tools\Runtime).

Then right click the file: Processing.NDI.Lib.x64.dll

Then click properties.

Then click the "Details" tab.

You will see your installed NDI Version in the list.
