More and more of us are using our vMix laptops in a variety of situations. I'm working with a client that is now presenting both virtual only and hybrid seminars. We've created a second Audio bus for routing her in-house audio. Unfortunately, If she uses the computer at any time with vMix open when it's not connected to the device routed by the Bus.
Unfortunately, this is much worse than missing a camera or mic where you can just right-click and select reset once it's connected. The audio bus completely disappears from the vMix interface. To re-enable it, you need to go into audio outputs, change the routing of the bus so it will restart, change the routing back to where you wanted it, restart again, and finally, you have a working bus.
Could there not be an option to keep buses active even if they are NOT connected to their output device? Obviously, the bus would not send the audio, but at least it would be available when they do connect back to the device.

As a workaround, maybe you could install a virtual cable (wich is always available) and route your audio through it instead? https://vb-audio.com/Cable/

Richard's workaround is actually pretty clever I think! I use Virtual Audio Cables daily and they work great, you can get up to 4 or maybe even 5 separate ones on one system, if you're willing to donate about $20 (the extra cables are a donation-ware).

We use virtual cables regularly but I'm not sure how to use it here. We need the audio to go out our physical outputs to go to house speakers. How do I send that virtual signal to our physical outputs without a bus?

Assign the bus to the VAC's input, and the VAC's output to the physical output's input.
(To be honest, I don't understand your description of your setup. That's why I wrote "maybe". And, to me it is strange to request a "Disappearing audio buses" feature.)
