Hey Folks,
i really need your help, thanks in advance.
I just built a system for streaming with the z590 chipset. The motherboard is a Asus Prime Z590-A, CPU is i9-11900K and for Graphics i got a RTX 2060 Super with 8GB RAM.
After ordering more than 50 of this components, i have been told by the nice vMix Support, that i cannot work with 2 Decklink Duo 2 Cards inside, because of PCI Lanes and so on.
I just tested it today without any problems, both cards were recognized by the system and i have no dropping frames. I had 6 cameras (1080 50p), 2 Outputs (one 50i and one 50p), recording 4 cameras instant replay HQ 50p, recording 1920x1080 @ 6 Mbit/s and streaming to 3 different destinations with 3 different qualities. 2 hours running no dropping frames, just 2 on one of the outputs.
Is anybody working with the same system? Or anybody can share his thoughts about my system?
Is there a tool which tells me what devices are using how many lanes?
THANK YOU!!

Simply, if it works, it works. I would not stress over it if you are able to use both BM cards. The mobo manual does not indicate how the 3rd slot is sharing lanes so you might run into issues will 8 cameras but until then...

Hi, The Asus Z590 A has 4 PCIE slots. The first slot will run your graphics card x16 lanes and the last 2 are x4 lanes. These two should work with 2 Duo 2 Cards without a Problem.

First of all, thank you @ask and @Maximus
I found out today, that the 2 cards are only working because the GPU is on PCI-E 8x and not 16x.
So at the actual setup the z590 chipset lanes are looking like this:
8x GPU 4x Blackmagic Decklink Duo 2 4x Blackmagic Decklink Duo 2
Strangely enough even when i put one of the capture cards out, the GPU is still running on 8x.
Question is, how big is the effect for vMix when the GPU is running on 8x instead of 16x.
Also its looking like, that the i7-11700k is better performing than the i9-11900k.

Hi Slaver, Are you using Slot 1 for GPU and Slot 3 and 4 for the Duo 2's? If yes then Slot 1 should run at 16x if Slot 2 is free. The other possibility is a populated M.2 slot is sharing PCIe Lanes with Slot 1.

which tool do you use to check the number of lanes? TechPowerUp GPU-Z only shows the lane of the GPU the M2 also use 2 lanes

Thanks again for your replies.
@Maximus Yes, the GPU is in the top pci-e slot of the mainboard (the only one supporting 16x) the capture cards are in the other long pcie slots. There´s not really a different possibility.
I also think that the M.2 is the reason that the GPU is not running in 16x.
@xaver i was using hwinfo to check lanes
