stereo mix audio input not working

For the life of me I cannot get stereo mix audio input to work properly. I have followed the directions suggested in the knowledge base article "How do I get audio from a third party application into vMix?" to no avail.
I am attempting to desktop capture the output of the Windows movie player (and possibly an audio player) to include in our production. The audio is being sent to our sanctuary sound system and played, so I have to temporarily turn off the audio input from the sound system to avoid the audio coming in through the microphone(s) in use.
I get absolutely nothing via stereo ix audio. Any suggestions?
I have tried submitting a support request, but have not even gotten as much as an acknowledgement of my support request.

Do you see something happening on the level meter for the Stereo Mix device when you're playing the audio for which you want to use the Stereo Mix input? That would be my first step in diagnosing the issue. StereoMix2x.png (51kb) downloaded 0 time(s).

The level meter in vMix is barely above the bottom. It moves slightly to the music, but nothing comes through.

What is the level meter for the Stereo Mix device in the Recording tab of the Sound Control Panel showing you? I attached a picture so you'd be able to see what I was referring to. It should be showing a good healthy level. If not, your problem is upstream of the Stereo Mix device (i.e. with what is feeding into it, and how) and certainly not in vMix.

As I stated in my first reply this morning, the level is 100 percent on the levels tab of the Stereo Mix device.
I don't know if the problem is vMix or elsewhere. I am attempting to pipe the computer audio from a video clip or an audio clip into vMix. Attempting to do that using Stereo Mix I get no audio coming in.

That Level control is effectively a gain control, so if nothing's actually coming in to the Stereo Mix device, then the output to vMix is 100% of nothing (= nothing). Therefore that Level control is not what I'm interested in for the purposes of trying to diagnose your problem. What I want to know is how many of the green bars in the Stereo Mix meter (in the Recording tab, as shown on the left hand half of my picture) are being illuminated when your audio is playing? Perhaps you could attach some screen grabs so as to be as unambiguous as I'm trying to be.

I have a similar problem. I have my Stereo Mix enabled, my level is set to 55 and I get good audio on the computer with these settings. I then bring in the Stereo Mix into vMix, and it shows no audio in the levels at all. I've included an image to show my setup. Any help is appreciated. Any help is appreciated. Can't reproduce it unfortunately - works as expected for me. StereoMix.PNG (52kb) downloaded 1 time(s).

Strange. I wonder what's different on my system?

Double check that your Windows 10 is up to date. Then triple check. - Tom
