Hi Martin,
We have an SDI passthrough/delay system set up with vMix right now where a DeckLink card inputs 720p60 video, delays its audio and video 10 seconds, then outputs the signal 720p60 via a different DeckLink card.
Currently after about 3 days of usage, the output video fails. The vMix interface still captures properly, and the "Program" window in vMix still shows the delayed video properly, but the output of the DeckLink card is frozen on a frame.
While this is occurring, the vMix logfiles fill up with thousands of these entries:
======================================== 12.0.0.119 - RenderAll - 3/23/2014 6:20:44 AM ======================================== System.OverflowException: Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow. at dq.g() at dq.f(du a, IntPtr a) at cj.r()
Thank you for your continued assistance to my reports.

Hi,
Could you provide the following information to help me diagnose the problem:
1. System specs including Windows version, CPU and graphics card 2. Decklink model 3. Decklink driver version 4. All settings used in the Settings -> External Output tab 5. All settings used under the Settings -> Audio tab including Recording Audio
Thanks,
Martin vMix

Hi Martin, This computer is running Windows 7 Enterprise x64 SP1 with a DeckLink Mini Monitor output card. The CPU is a Core i5 4570. Graphics card in use is the CPU's Intel HD Graphics 4600 since discrete graphics are not required on this system. The DeckLink driver version is 10.0. The settings are below.

Hi,
I ran two tests over three days with the same settings and couldn't re-create the issue. Is the system going to sleep or power saving mode? Check the following:
1. In Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound make sure the blackmagic device is not the primary audio and is disabled. 2. Run a memory test on the machine to see if there might be some faulty hardware. 3. Set the power mode on Control Panel to High Performance
Regards,
Martin vMix

Sorry to Hijack this Thread, but i have the same Problem on my Machine, after about 4 Days and 12 Hours the Following Problem occours: The Image on the External Renderer (Black Magic Design Studio 2) stops and i get the following Message Spamming the Log Files:
======================================== 12.0.0.120 - RenderAll - 21.04.2014 02:56:34 ======================================== System.OverflowException: Die arithmetische Operation hat einen Überlauf verursacht. bei dq.g() bei dq.f(du a, IntPtr a) bei cj.r()
You see, the same Error, just in German for me (Because the Machine is run German Language). Now the fun thing is that the Audio on the External Renderer is still running, even for Days, just the Image Stops at some point.
I had this behaviour now for all Versions 11, and current Version 12 Builds since we bought the Software.
I Checked the Machine, Audio Card Settings (As Mentioned in the Thread and so on.
Machine Specs : EDIT: Windows 7 Pro x64 Decklink Drivers (Currently Version 10, older ones Tested as well) /EDIT vMix License : HD 1x Decklink Studio 2 for Output. 1x Decklink Quad for SDI Inputs. 1x Digigram VX222e for AES Audio Input
Mainboard: ASUS S-1366 P6T7 WS SuperComputer CPU: Intel i7 S-1366 Hexa Core @ 3GHz RAM : 12GB DDR3-RAM 1066MHz Graphics Card: Nvidia Geforce 430 Samsung 840 Pro SSD Harddisks
Running in 1080 Mode for all Inputs and Outputs @ 25p / 50i
FPS: 25 / Render Time 4ms / CPU Usage Normaly 3%
The behaviour is not Related to the Inputs, i have tried Video Files only on Loop and also Live-Sources per SDI, no Change in behaviour, after about 4 and a half days the Video on the External Renderer Stops, the Audio keeeps on Running for Ages.
Thank you in Advance, and plese excuse any Spelling Errors, i am not a native English Speaker.
Best Regards ! Chritian Leiß

Hi Martin, I have been able to reproduce this error once again, and have some additional information for you. vMix is currently in it's error state, and I am going to leave it that way in case you want to inspect this machine remotely. Currently, for several days I have had a few recorded media files running in a loop. The playback continues properly on the vMix screen output, but the output of my DeckLink Mini Monitor SDI card is frozen on a frame. I'm running the Desktop Video 10.1 software. Clicking the "i" icon next to the External button, and clicking the External information tab, yields the following error condition: This system has been running for over 4 days. Please let me know if you would like any additional information, or VNC access to this machine currently in this error state.

Hi Martin,
Hope I'm not nagging, but is there any progress towards understanding the cause of this problem?
Thank you!

Hi, Sorry for the delay in looking into this. The trouble I am facing is I am unable to re-create the issue thus far and each test takes at least 5 days to complete! Could you confirm what the Playback device is set to in Windows under Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound? Also a complete log of your system info would help me to re-create the same conditions. To do this type in msinfo32 in the start menu and go to File -> Export. Email this file to info@vmix.com.auRegards, Martin vMix

Here is one thing that i was able to trace down on my Machine.
The Error even Occours when i close vMix in this 4 and a Half Days and open it again.
My Observations currently: My System Runs without Problems about 4 and a half days, if i close vMix on the 4th Day and Open it again (No System Reboot !) The Error will still Occour within the next Day, the 4 and a half days seems only to start to count again when the Acctual Error Occours.
Maybe the Problem is not directly vMix itself, maybe a Runtime Component or the Decklink Drivers itself.
I Also checked my Sound Settings again, the Default Sound Device for Windows is my Onboard Soundcard, which is not used by vMix in any way.
Next up i will try to Reboot the System on the 4th Day and see whats happening (i believe it will run for 4 and a half days because of the Reboot).
Hope that Helps !
Best Regards Christian Leiß

Hi Martin, I think I may have found the cause of this problem. I noticed today that the file I am looping is dropping frames in the External Output... This observation leads me to have 2 questions... The first, related to the error message of an arithmetic overflow: Do you think this error is occurring with the DeckLink rendering module because the dropped frame counter eventually grows larger than the capacity of the variable type storing that number? (Integer, Int64, Double, etc... all have different capacities). This would seem to line up with the symptoms being seen (i.e. the problem only occurs after days of playback, it only affects the DeckLink's output, and the error message states an arithmetic overflow) My second question is why are frames being dropped due to source frame rate? The MP4 videos being played back are encoded at 1080p29.97. My project is set tp NTSC 29.97p/59.94i. My external output of the DeckLink card is currently set at 720p59.94. In this case I would expect the renderer to duplicate frames and not drop them. Thank you for the continued efforts! Landon

The external output timing uses the clock provided by the decklink card. This clock for some unknown reason is suddenly jumping (or overflowing) after a few days.
This jump in time, causes vMix to suddenly scramble to keep up dropping millions of frames until it overflows itself.
This sudden jump in time is what I am investigating, it seems to be system specific and a possible combination of default sound device and the driver version.
Regards,
Martin vMix

With regards to this issue with DeckLink cards outputting reliably for a long time... I am currently seeing the following behavior with 13.0.0.142 after several hours of runtime. The external output signal is frozen on a frame. Running the latest 10.1.1 software version. A video of the problem in action: admin wrote:The external output timing uses the clock provided by the decklink card. Are you using Decklink Video Render or the new output option? Also, is the decklink card and/or system you are using the same with previous issues?
If so it sounds like the card might be faulty unfortunately, it looks like the internal clock on the device is suddenly resetting and vMix can't really do anything about that when it happens.

I was using the DeckLink Video Render, I did not notice the new output device in version 13 yet. I will report back to you when I have run it through its paces.
Pardon for the imposition, but for my own personal betterment, can you say a bit about how this new option is functionally different from the DeckLink Render?
