I have a vMix install in a radio broadcast studio.

I need to have a vMix Call inputs audio to feed an input on the radio console full time, regardless of whether it's taken to program on vMix. So, in vMix it's audio is auto mixed to master / program, but audio always appears on an output for radio.

At present I have the call input permanently in solo to go to the console (we don't use a separate audio monitor for vMix, so I repurposed the vmix "headphone" output).

Is there a better way?

I guess I could also disable automix, leave the call inputs audio on, send the A bus to radio, and script the toggle of the master bus assign to transitions.

It would be nice to be able to send a sources audio to an output pre-fader / pre-bus assign, but I guess that use case would be pretty rare.

Yes, I think your solution of sending audio to master and second audio bus is the way.

Add an OnTransitionIn trigger, set the action to MasterAudioOn, and add an OnTransitionOut trigger, set the action to MasterAudioOff.

Turn off automix, send your second audio bus to whatever audio output device you want.

no, an input can't be changed to an output. it's not wired that way inside.

Going to try it that way. My only concern is when we go to / from a full screen shot to a split screen shot that still contains the call, there may be a momentary audio gap as one shots trigger turns off the master assign and the next one turns it on. I don't think I can delay the audio switching trigger at all to form an overlap because the shot I'm leaving would kill the master assign after the one I'm transitioning to turns it on. I've run into that before with triggered audio control.

Will test this out nonetheless.
