Background - we have a USB feed between the vMix PC and the SoundDesk (SD)

  • SD IN
  • SD OUT

"SD IN" brings in mic audio into a vMix audio input & "SD OUT" is used to take vMix audio (eg music/videos) out, back to the sound desk via BUS-A

PC sound out is meant to be set to RealTek Audio for the AV Engineer to hear in headphones.

So... we had a situation where the PC sound out kept getting set to "SD OUT" and this caused unwanted feedback looping between SD and PC

To make it clearer to all the "SD OUT" device was renamed to "ONLY USE IN VMIX SETTINGS"...

vMix carried on working and nothing seemed broken at this point.

A week later we found that Audio Bus A had disappeared without any notification of anything being wrong... this is my objection.

Just like when a video input is missing we get a nice dialogue appearing asking for it to be reselected or an option to cancel.

In this case, when the "SD OUT" device was not found during vMix launch, there was no warning notification that a configured device is missing; BUS_A was just not there in the Audio Mixer. We should receive a notification and preferably be taken straight to the applicable setting.

It was also observed that the old "SD OUT" device was still listed when it should not be listed and also disabled sound outputs were being listed.

Generally, only active devices should be listed and any/all missing configured devices should at least cause a warning notification to appear.
